Fighine, a splendid castle on the border with Siena, is a reminder of a constant theme in this part of the Val di Chiana: the struggle between Siena and Orvieto for control of the territory. Incidentally, the first settlements were linked to the Visconti of Campiglia, while the control of Siena came at the end of the 1300s.
